Billy Earl Thornton, 91, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 with his family by his side. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday June 15, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM Thursday June 16, 2022 at Killeen Memorial Park Chapel.
Billy was born on January 22, 1931 to John Edgar Thornton and Maude Estell Johnson in Killeen, Texas. He graduated from Killeen High School and attended First Baptist Church of Killeen. Billy served his country in the Navy from 1949-1953. He was a civil servant for the Federal Government for 34 years. After retirement Billy moved to Lake LBJ in Granite Shoals. Enjoyed fishing being on his boat in the water. Billy loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Billy Earl Thornton was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maude Thornton; his two sisters, Geneva Lanier and Doris Gilliam.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Thornton; his children, Darlene Ward, Philip Thornton, Grant Hamberg, Mary Gail Corser, Greg Hamberg, Harold Wray Jr., Randal Wray, Joey Wray, Lindal Wray and blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Marie Byers.
