Obituary

James Conley Johnston, 82, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2022. Visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM Wednesday March 9, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Killeen Memorial Park and Cemetery.

James was born on October 6, 1939, to Ray Olin Johnston and Myrtle Higgins Johnston in Ottawa, Kansas. His proudest accomplishment was the day he married his bride, Kye Mae Yi on November 29, 1966. James’ whole life was about his family. He began his career in the army early having served two tours in Vietnam. He retired at Ft. Hood, Texas after 18 years of service to raise his family. James was active in his church and served as a deacon.

James Conley Johnston was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Myrtle Johnston; his siblings, Richard, Patricia, Larry and Cheryl.

He is survived by his wife, Kye Mae Johnston; his daughter, Cindy Muerer; his grandson, Chaz.
