Jose Armando Cumba Sr., 63, passed away suddenly on October 8, 2021. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday October 17, 2021 at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday October 18, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
Jose was born on August 30, 1958, to Armando Cumba and Monserrate S. Sanchez in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He grew up in many places due to the fact his father was in the Military. Jose graduated from Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany and he stayed close to his classmates. He worked at the mess hall in Fort Hood, then worked his way up to Management in Facilities Services. He was a giver and loved to help people however he could.
Jose was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and admired the coaching style of Tom Landry to which inspired him to become a coach of many levels in sports. He was passionate about coaching his boys and their friends in every sport from the time they could play to adulthood. Jose’s hobbies were that he was big into his vehicles, especially his trucks and motorcycles. He enjoyed the joy and freedom of riding his motorcycles to clear his mind at the end of the week. Jose loved his grandkids and being around his family. When the boys were small, he loved to cook for his family and a backyard Barbeque was his forte when gathered with family and friends. His family said he is a “fashionista” he loved to shop; everything had to match! He has a hat and watch for every outfit.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Armando, and Monserrate Cumba.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Ann Cumba; his sons, Jose Cumba Jr. (Brandi), Carlos Cumba (Shannon); his grandchildren, Bella Cumba, Jose Cumba III, Jolene, and Adia Cumba and Olivia Cumba; his sister, Mayra Cumba; his brother, Jorge Cumba(Lilly); his sister Maria Wichgers(Tom) and his nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
